Cookie Statement

1. What a cookie is

1. A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device and reads back on a later visit.
2. A functional cookie is needed to make the site work as intended. It requires no consent.
3. A tracking or advertising cookie follows your behaviour across several sites. That does require consent. I do not set one.

2. The only cookie on this site

If you arrive at the bare address of this website, I check once which country your connection comes from and send you to the Dutch or the English version. Your choice is then stored, so you are not redirected again on every visit and so a manual language switch sticks.

1. Name: lang-redirected.
2. Purpose: to remember which language version you were given or chose yourself.
3. Content: the value nl or en. Nothing else.
4. Retention: one year, or less if you delete it yourself.
5. Type: functional, set by this website itself. No third party reads it.

3. Visitor statistics without a cookie

1. I use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit the site and which pages they view.
2. That measurement works without a cookie and without building a recognisable profile of you. Nothing is stored on your device.
3. I see counts and pages, not people.

4. Third-party cookies

1. This site loads no advertising networks, no social media widgets and no embedded video. So there is no party that can set a cookie on your device through this site.
2. The typefaces are hosted on this server and are not fetched from an external party.
3. If you follow a link to an external site, for example LinkedIn or Spotify, that party's cookies and terms apply there. I have no influence over those.

5. Refusing or deleting cookies

1. You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, and you can block them there as well.
2. If you block this site's cookie, everything keeps working. You will simply be assessed for language again on each visit to the bare address.
3. You can also bypass the redirect by going straight to the Dutch or the English version.
